New Life Christian Fellowship (Disciples of Christ) had its first meeting at the Mission Fellowship Church in Buda, Texas on February 13, 2013. We began with only five (5) members.
Shortly thereafter, two (2) of our members graciously opened their home for our meetings. Then on March 21, Rev. Lori Ruge-Jones of the Living Word Lutheran Church in Buda, welcomed us to use their facility, where we continue to meet.
On July 24, 2014, the Texas Secretary of State accorded us certification as a Domestic Non-profit Corporation, and we received an Employer Identification Number from the I.R.S. on September 18, 2014. We thereupon changed our name to New Life Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. As part of the one body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord's Table as God has welcomed us.
The mission of New Life Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is to promote the teachings of Jesus Christ, to furnish a place of public worship, to study the spiritual needs of the community, and to represent Jesus Christ in every way in the community.
We believe that Jesus is the Christ (the Messiah), the Son of the living God, that He died for our sins, and was raised from the dead. Jesus turned no one away from the communion table, and neither do we. Our traditional method of baptism is by immersion; however, if someone joins our congregation and informs us they were sprinkled or otherwise baptized in another faith, we do not require them to be rebaptized. Barton Stone used the phrase "No creed but Christ; no book but the Bible." So do we. Alexander Campbell said "Where the Scriptures speak, we speak; where the Scriptures are silent, we are silent." So are we.
